On July 11, STMicroelectronics and GlobalFoundries Inc announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a new, jointly operated 300mm semiconductor manufacturing facility next to STMicroelectronics’ existing 300mm fab in Kroll, France. The facility is targeted to be at full capacity by 2026 and will be able to produce 620,000 300mm wafers (about 42% STMicroelectronics and about 58% GF) per year when fully completed.
STMicroelectronics and GF are committed to building capacity for their European and global customer bases. The new facility will support multiple technologies, especially those based on FD-SOI, and will cover multiple variants. This includes GF's market-leading FDX technology and ST's comprehensive technology roadmap down to 18nm, which is expected to remain in high demand for automotive, IoT and mobile applications for decades to come. Aiming to be the market leader in multimedia application integration and power solutions, STMicroelectronics has the world's strongest product lineup, ranging from dedicated products with high intellectual property content to innovative products in multiple fields, such as discrete devices , high-performance microcontrollers, secure smart card chips, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) devices. STMicroelectronics is a pioneer in the development of complex ICs using a platform-based design approach for demanding applications such as mobile multimedia, set-top boxes and computer peripherals, and continues to improve this approach. STMicroelectronics has a well-balanced product portfolio to meet the needs of all microelectronics users. STMicroelectronics is designated as the preferred partner for system-on-chip (SoC) projects of global strategic customers, and the company also provides full support to local companies to meet local customers' needs for general-purpose devices and solutions. STM32 STMicroelectronics includes a broad product line, low-cost 8-bit microcontrollers and STM32 microcontrollers with a rich selection of peripherals. STM32 provides innovative semiconductor solutions to customers in various electronic applications. The STM32 microcontroller (MCU) portfolio also offers wireless connectivity solutions, including the new ultra-low-power dual-core STM32WB microcontroller family. This multi-protocol wireless MCU platform can simultaneously run Bluetooth™5, OpenThread, ZigBee3.0* and IEE802.15.4 communication protocols With the addition of the STM32 microprocessor (MPU) and its heterogeneous architecture combined with Arm® Cortex®-A and Cortex®-M cores, embedded systems engineers will have the opportunity to try out new designs and access open source Linux and Android platform. This flexible architecture allows advanced digital and analog peripherals to be assigned to either core, while enabling better power efficiency based on data processing and real-time execution requirements. To help engineers shorten application development time, ST and third parties now offer mainstream open source Linux distributions and next-generation system toolsets to support STM32 MCUs and MPUs. As an ecological partner of ST, Oncor Technology will participate in the STM32 China Online Technology Week held by STMicroelectronics, and will demonstrate how Oncor's industry-leading universal programmer platform AP8000 supports STM32WB55 series wireless MCUs at the conference. of burning. Onco has supported thousands of ST chips, including various products such as MCU, memory and power supply, and sensors. We look forward to discussing with you the challenges and solutions for mass production programming of ST32 MCUs from July 18th to 22nd. STM32WB is a dual-core wireless microcontroller based on 64MHz frequency, Arm®Cortex®‐M4 core (application processor) and 32MHz frequency, Arm Cortex-M0+ core (network processor), supporting Bluetooth LE5.2 and IEEE802. 15.4 wireless standards (such as ZigBee and Thread). STM32WB wireless series MCU Dual-core, multi-protocol STM32WB wireless microcontroller supporting Bluetooth® LE, Zigbee® and Thread® connectivity wireless connection: Ultra Low Energy Bluetooth Bluetooth Low Energy RF Transceiver with Bluetooth™ 5.2 Wireless Stack and Profile Approved by the Bluetooth SIG, Mesh Profile Compliant V1.0 Bluetooth SIG Version, and Compatible with Any Bluetooth Low Energy or Proprietary Solution HCI (including Zephyr or Arm Cordio stacks). IEEE802.15.4 standard, Zigbee, Thread The common IEEE802.15.4 MAC layer ensures that the STM32WB can run proprietary protocols or common protocol stacks, including Zigbee PRO2017 and OpenThread low-power mesh networking protocols, providing designers with more IoT connectivity options. According to the device size and OTA function, different authentication schemes are provided to flexibly optimize the development platform and achieve greater freedom of product application. The STM32WB MCU can run Bluetooth LE5.2 supporting the 802.15.4 wireless protocol, Zigbee and OpenThread in concurrent mode for easier device management during installation and configuration. This feature greatly improves the ease of use and overall user experience of this technology. Main features Overview STM32WB MCU is based on an innovative architecture of two completely independent cores. On the one hand, it is optimized for real-time execution of wireless communication-related software codes, and on the other hand, it is more flexible in resource utilization and power management, and achieves a lower BOM. cost and a better user experience.
